Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the cross-cultural compatibility of the behavior problem scales of the 1991 CBCL/4-18 based on factor analysis data of clinic data in the U.S. by examining correlation between them and the Korea
CBCL
behavior problem scales derived from factor analysis of Korean clinic children. 3581 CBCL data from 2008 boys and 1573 qirls between the ages of 6 to 16 were scored using the Achenbach's CBCL/4-18 behavior problem scales and again with the Korean
CBCL
behavior problem scales, and the correlation between the two sets of scores were computed. The results showed that correlations between the two sets of scores were consistently high, ranging r=.70 to r=.99 with the median of r=.88, suggesting the
behavior problem scales of 1991 CBCL/4-18 were compatible with the Korean behavior problem scales. Given the high level of correlations between the two sets of scales, it was suggested that behavior problem scales of 1991 CBCL/4-18 be used with
the
Korean CBCL because use of common behavior problem scales facilitates cross-cultural comparison.
